Attribute Manager PRO — Attribute and Value Dictionary Management for OpenCart

Attribute Manager PRO combines attribute templates, predefined value dictionaries and tools for editing product attributes. The module helps you populate your catalogue faster, maintain consistent names and values, and reduce manual work.

Instead of repeatedly adding attributes and entering the same text, you can apply predefined sets, select values from dictionaries and automatically insert their saved translations. If your catalogue is already populated, you can build dictionaries by importing values from existing products.

Key Features

• Attribute templates. Create named sets of attributes for different product types and quickly add them to a product.
• Attribute groups. Manage which attributes belong to each group and add the attributes of a selected group to a product.
• Value dictionaries. Create predefined value lists for each attribute, including translations and sort order.
• Value search and selection. Access dictionary suggestions directly in the product editing form.
• Multilingual field population. When you select a value, its saved translations are added to the corresponding language fields.
• Editing from a single list. View products with a selected attribute, edit its values, add the attribute to another product or remove it from an individual product without opening the full product form.
• Import from your catalogue. Populate dictionaries with values already used in product attributes.
• Flexible separators. Separate settings for splitting text during import and joining multiple values in a product.
• Batch processing. Imports run in sequential steps with a progress indicator and can be resumed after an interruption.

Attribute Templates and Groups

Prepare attribute sets for different product types. For example, a clothing template might include “Colour”, “Size”, “Material” and “Season”, while a smartphone template might contain “Screen Size”, “RAM” and “Internal Storage”.

In the product form, simply select a template or group and click the add button. Attributes already present in the product are not added again. A template defines the set of attributes; their values are filled in separately, either manually or from a dictionary.

Value Dictionaries and Multilingual Support

Each attribute can have its own dictionary. For example, the “Colour” attribute can contain “Black”, “Blue” and “White”, with translations into your store’s languages.

When editing a product, search for the required value and select it from the suggestions. The module adds the text and its available translations to the corresponding language fields. You can select several values in succession for the same attribute.

Important: the module uses saved translations; it does not translate text automatically.

Configuring the Product Value Separator

The “Product Value Separator” setting defines the text inserted between values selected from a dictionary. A comma followed by a space is used by default.

• Comma and space: Black, Blue, White.
• Line break: enter \n — a backslash followed by the letter n.
• A character followed by a line break: for example, ;\n.
• Empty field: values are joined without an additional separator.

Changing this setting does not reformat previously saved product attributes. The separator used when filling in products is configured independently of the import separators.

Importing Values from Existing Products

If your catalogue already contains populated attributes, you do not need to transfer their values into dictionaries manually. Attribute Manager PRO reads product data, splits it using the specified separators and creates dictionary entries.

Splitting Multiple Values

You can specify up to three independent separators, such as a comma, semicolon and vertical bar. Multi-character separators, \n for line breaks and the HTML separator

are also supported.

For example, the attribute text Black, Blue with the separator , will be imported as two separate values: “Black” and “Blue”.

Empty separator fields are ignored. If all three fields are left empty, the entire attribute text is imported as a single value.

Multilingual Import

Translations are matched according to the order of values in the product attribute. For example, Чорний, Синій in Ukrainian and Black, Blue in English will form the pairs “Чорний / Black” and “Синій / Blue”.

Important: check the order of values across languages. The module does not match translations by meaning. You can edit the imported dictionary entries if necessary.

Two Import Modes

• “Add to existing values”. Preserves existing entries, their IDs and texts, adds new values and fills in missing translations. Suitable for gradually expanding your dictionaries.
• “Delete existing values and import new values”. Replaces dictionary entries for the selected attributes with the import results.

Import does not change product attributes or templates. Overwrite mode replaces only dictionary entries within the selected set of attributes. We recommend backing up your database before overwriting dictionaries.

How to Use the Import

1. Open the Attribute Manager PRO settings under “Extensions → Modules”.
2. Enable the module and choose whether to import values from all attributes or only selected ones.
3. Specify the separators used in your products. To import the entire text as a single value, leave all three fields empty.
4. Select the import mode. For your first import, “Add to existing values” is a convenient starting point.
5. Set the batch size and save the settings. The default value is 100; you can reduce it on a slower server.
6. Click “Import” and confirm the operation. Overwriting dictionaries requires an additional confirmation.
7. Keep the page open until the import finishes. The module displays the current stage, progress and the number of processed and written values.
8. Once the import is complete, open the relevant attribute and review its dictionary, particularly the translation pairings.

Cancellation and Resuming

During the preparation stage, the “Cancel Preparation” button is available. Cancellation takes effect after the current batch finishes. Existing dictionaries remain unchanged, and you can then start a new import.

Cancellation is unavailable during the writing stage. If processing is interrupted or the page is closed, reopen the settings and click “Resume”. The import continues using the parameters recorded when it was started. Batches already written successfully are not rolled back.

Installation

1. Upload the attribute_manager_pro_v_1_0_oc3.ocmod.zip archive through the OpenCart Extension Installer.
2. Refresh the modification cache.
3. Install Attribute Manager PRO under “Extensions → Modules”.
4. Open the settings, enable the module and save your changes. Configure user group access permissions if necessary.

Compatibility and Integration

• OpenCart 3.x and ocStore 3.x.
• Interface available in Ukrainian, Russian and English.
• Integration with standard attribute, attribute group and product forms through OCMOD, without directly replacing core files.
• Values are stored in the standard product attribute text fields.
• Dictionaries and templates remain in the database after the module is uninstalled.
